Details

Discover Barbados' rich history as you explore the beautifully restored 17th century plantation of St. Nicholas Abbey. Built by Benjamin Berringer in 1658, it is one of just three Jacobean style mansions remaining in the Western Hemisphere, one of the finest historic sites in Barbados, and one of the most meticulously restored Great Houses of the Caribbean. Join us on a tour of this home of a bygone era followed by a brief history of rum making in Barbados and a tasting of the world renowned St. Nicholas Abbey rums. This tour also includes a trip on the all new St Nicholas Abbey Heritage Railway - an exciting family attraction now part of St. Nicholas Abbey Great House Plantation and Distillery. Ride a steam locomotive train and journey through the plantation fields and mahogany woods culminating with the expansive highland view of the east coast of the island from Cherry Tree Hill. Following the tour of the grounds at St. Nicholas Abbey and the Train, end the tour with a scenic drive down Cherry Tree Hill towards the rugged East Coast of the island with a picture stop at Morgan Lewis Mill, the only remaining fully functional windmill in Barbados.
