Details

Enjoy a scenic journey through County Cork’s charming countryside and visit the picturesque coastal town of Kinsale. Cork, with its lush valleys and beautiful coastline, has some of the finest scenery in Ireland. Your journey will allow you to see rolling landscapes of fields, flowers and hedgerows as you travel through tunnels, over bridges, along rivers and near small villages. A brief photo stop will be made so that you can capture the views over the River Bandon before continuing on to Kinsale. The small, quaint town of Kinsale, believed to have been founded by Anglo Normans around 1177, lies snugly between hills and valleys. Kinsale owes its unique character to the fact that it was an important naval base for over 300 years, which is reflected in the many 18th-century structures that still stand alongside the more recent Georgian homes and Dutch-influenced architecture. There will be free time to explore the town and admire the varied architecture before indulging in a bit of shopping, or you may want to relax with a drink in one of the cafés or pubs instead. On the way back, a stop will be made at Charles Fort, located above Summer Cove, to experience the views over Kinsale Harbor before continuing along country roads back to the port.
