Rose Hall & Shopping

From the comfort of your tour bus, you will journey on a sightseeing drive through the historic town of Falmouth and to the resort area of Rose Hall. Built of cut stone in 1760, Rose Hall Great House is considered the largest Plantation Great House in all the Caribbean. The Great House mimics the magnificent estates of European royalty. On arrival at the Great House, your attraction guide will relate the tale of the diabolical and lascivious Annie Palmer, the mistress of the house otherwise known as The White Witch of Rose Hall. It is claimed that Annie dabbled in witchcraft, murdered three husbands and had several lovers. The Great House was damaged by a revolt in 1831 and uninhabited thereafter, as it was rumored that Annie's ghost was in residence. In 1960, the house was meticulously restored to its splendor during the glory days of the British Empire. Annie's ghost is said to still roam the halls of the Great House, so if you feel a strange presence, you will know why. Enjoy a complimentary fruit drink in the dungeon before continuing the tour to view her grave in the garden. The grounds surrounding the Great House are immaculately manicured and serve for great photos of your visit. From the Great House, you’ll journey to Main Street Jamaica (formerly the Shoppes at Rose Hall), where you will find a wide variety of duty-free items and local souvenirs. After some shopping, you will continue the sightseeing tour of the resort, viewing lands that once belonged to the estate. In time, sugar gave way to the present-day shops, restaurants, hotels, golf courses and to private residences now owned by Jamaica's wealthiest and the rich and famous of the world. Your tour ends with a return drive to the cruise ship terminal in Falmouth.
