This is an awesome way to experience Grand Bahama Island. Drive in an open-top Jeep convoy through one of the oldest settlements on the island. You’ll begin your tour by passing a pond where, according to local legend, there were sightings of a real mermaid. Then, see an original lighthouse that was used by pirates in the 1800s. Learn about the important industrial sector of the island and then head to the Perfume Factory, which was founded in 1969. Afterward, drive along the main highway to the tropical Garden of the Groves, where your lunch awaits you in a tranquil setting amid ponds and waterfalls. Stroll the grounds and enjoy some retail therapy shopping for authentic Bahamian art and crafts. Next, hop back into your Jeep and drive through an upscale residential area, where you will see why it is called Millionaire’s Row. Your final destination is a beautiful white, powdery, sandy beach on the island’s southern shore, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip or take a stroll through the neighboring village.
