Experience the Best Hilo has to offer in this small-group half day adventure. Take in dramatic views of 3 of Hilo’s famed waterfalls, walk through a lava tube, and search for the endangered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle on a black sand beach.
Your Adventure begins with a trip back in time, as an interpretive guide narrates the history of Hilo and with a drive along the historic bayfront to an old sugar cane plantation headquarters. Then travel into the gulch behind honoli’i beach park, one of the island most popular surf breaks, where a hidden waterfall lies right beneath the road. Explore OK farms, one of the largest tropical fruit farms in the United States, Take in views of world-famous Rainbow Falls from their private gazebo.
Then venture to the farm store, where you’ll have the opportunity to buy locally produced Macadamia nuts, coffee, and more. Leaving the farm, we’ll break out our flashlights and drop down into the depths of Kaumana Cave, a lava tube that once served as a pipeline for volcanic lava to travel down the mountain.
Finally we’ll finish up with a stroll down Richardson’s Beach. A beautiful black sand cove that serves as a sanctuary for the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle
