Experience local culture at its purest and feel the power of contributing to global sustainability “one community at a time”. This heartwarming tour begins with a country drive to the tiny mountain community of Las Brisas, home of the native Cabecar tribe of Costa Rica. Walk through an organic orchard learning about the traditional growing methods in the mountains of Costa Rica and hand-pick part of a snack that later will help prepare with the locals at the Community Center. Next, visit a small dairy farm exploring the milk production of the community. Afterwards, learn about the valuable work of a tree nursery & receive a seedling that you will take to a nearby forest recovery site nestled in a enthralling mountain scenery with views as far as the Turrialba volcano in the distance. Here you can plant the tree seedling (with assistance) with your bare hands and contribute to counteract climate change. Return to the Community Center to help prepare the snack you picked earlier with the assistance of the local community members. Enjoy a live demonstration by artisans from members of the nearby Cabecar native community, who have inhabited this rainforest for centuries, and are ready to teach you about their culture and love of the earth. Engage in an informal, warm conversation with these local artisans, learning about their handicrafts and traditional way of life. Local music will be playing while you enjoy this experience, and handicrafts can be purchased as keepsakes and gifts. After your experience, return back to the pier. Almost all proceeds of this tour go directly to the community participants and as a donation to the non-profit Foundation for Rainforest Research & Preservation.
