Your tour begins with a drive through County Cork to Killarney in County Kerry. You will have a comfort stop with tea or coffee and biscuits before you continue west via Kilgarven and Kenmare. Then travel over Molls Gap, viewing the Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View — a scenic view in Killarney National Park that is great for photo ops. Drive on to Muckross House and Gardens, which has a beautiful location on Muckross Lake and wonderful views of the Kerry Mountains as a backdrop. Muckross House is a 19th-century manor house that has two main themes: the environment of the National Park and the folklore of County Kerry in the 19th and 20th centuries. Skilled craft workers carry on some of the traditional crafts of Kerry as their predecessors did in bygone days. The gardens are noted for their fine collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, extensive water gardens and an outstanding rock garden made of natural limestone. You’ll then proceed to Killarney for lunch on your own and some free time in the town. Killarney (in Irish, Cill Airne, meaning “The Church of Sloes”) developed its tourism in 1750, when four major roads were built to the outside world. The area still bears the marks of a group of houses huddled outside the demesne walls.
