Enjoy this driving tour through Gothenburg, the second-largest city in Sweden, founded in 1621 by King Gustav II Adolf, who grew tired of constant Danish raids and wanted to build a strong fortress in the west. You will begin your tour driving up to Masthuggs Church, where you will have a panoramic view of Gothenburg and the port. If no services are taking place at the church, guests are welcomed to visit the inside. You will then drive up to the heart of the city, where you will pass Götaplatsen, with its famous fountain that features a large Poseidon statue sculpted by Carl Milles. Afterward, pass the Museum of Fine Art, the Concert Hall and the Municipal Theatre in Götaplatsen. Your tour continues as you drive along Avenyn, Gothenburg’s main boulevard, with its wide variety of fine restaurants, bar, and shops. At Gustav Adolf’s Square, you will have a chance to see City Hall, the courthouse and the Stock Exchange. The journey doesn’t stop there as you will also come across the very famous Feskekôrka, meaning fish church, which is a fish market that resembles a place of worship. Enjoy some free time in the city center before continuing to a guided tour of the Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the park to the beautiful Rock Garden, with its amazing rock formations, beautiful waterfall and over 6,000 plants. Walk through Rhododendron Valley, which blooms beautifully during early June, to see a plethora of vibrant colors and sweet scents.
