Details

Visit Kinderdijk and see the original windmills. Your scenic drive will take you through Rotterdam’s outskirts to travel through Polders canals and its occasional farms, to nearby Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk is home to 19 original windmills dating back to the 17th century, many of which are still in working order. These mills are the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands, and one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. Take the opportunity to explore the site, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. During your visit, one of the mill owners will conduct a tour of the interior of a working windmill. Then you'll continue on to Delfhaven, one of Rotterdam’s oldest and best-preserved districts. Officially, Delfshaven has only been part of Rotterdam for a little over 100 years. Dating back to the 14th century, it was from here that the Pilgrim Fathers set out on their epic journey to America in 1620. You will then make a brief photo stop before your return journey to the pier.
