You will leave the pier and drive to the wonderful 16 – acre St. George Botanical Gardens though the rainforest (weather permitting). St. George Botanical Gardens grounds were home to a Saladoid Indian Village from 100 to 900 A.D., a Danish Sugar Plantation from 1733 to 1917, a cattle ranch after 1930 and the Botanical Garden from 1972.
You will enjoy a spectacular mix of history and natural beauty with a variety of themed garden areas set among the historic structures of the colonial era sugarcane plantation. The property is listed twice in the National Registry of Historic Sites for both the Amerindian archaeological site and the Danish colonial sugarcane plantation village.
