Red, White, and Ocean Blue

A Caribbean cruise provides you with a gorgeous palette for Summer style. Take the traditional red, white, and blue, then add a beautiful range of ocean teals and aquas. It’s a classic with a twist. This Spring, Jaime and I took a few of our girlfriends on a Carnival cruise and couldn’t help but think about how we could take some nautical style home with us. If we can’t have our own butler, comedian and bartender, at least we can try to recreate the feeling of our vaca on the high seas with pretty home decor.

1. A life preserver throw pillow from Land of Nod comes to the rescue adding a pop of color to a kid’s room or patio.

2. I miss living where you can leave the door open to enjoy the Summer breeze. Someone who doesn’t live in Texas needs to grab this Mooring Rope Knot Door Stop from Dot & Bo so that I can live vicariously.

3. Let everyone who arrives at your doorstep know that they are welcome to drop an anchor and stay a while with an Anchor Floor Mat from West Elm.

This chic ceramic whale is a steal at Target.

Since our cruise had two stops in Mexico, we couldn’t resist adding this charming Tulum Side Table from CB2. It’s designed to withstand the elements but beautiful enough to use indoors.

Garnet Hill’s Mini-Print Percale Bedding features charming hand-painted nautical designs printed on soft cotton sheets.
And how about one last DIY to bring it all together. Try out Jaime’s stunning Rope Rug tutorial from our book, Pretty Prudent Home. It’s the perfect nautical inspired project.
