Details

Tall Ship: Set sail on the R. Tucker Thompson, a traditional gaff-rigged schooner, and explore the stunning Bay of Islands. Experience the thrill of sailing on a working tall ship as you take part in the sailing activities, from steering the ship to climbing the rigging.

Swim & Sand: Enjoy time on a beautiful island where you can swim in crystal-clear waters, unwind on the beach, and take advantage of beach access with optional water entry from the vessel.

Sip & Savor: After the island stop, savor freshly baked scones with tea and coffee, then enjoy a full onboard lunch of grilled meats, potatoes, and salad, with a licensed bar offering local wines and beers for purchase.

Give Back: Sail with purpose as you hear stories of local history, conservation initiatives, and the trust’s youth development program, with your participation helping support local youth.

What’s Included:

  • Return ferry transfers between Paihia and Russell.
  • Morning/afternoon tea and freshly baked scones.
  • Full lunch onboard (grilled meats, potatoes and salad).
  • An Island stop, with time to swim, relax or explore (beach landing).
  • Optional participation in sailing activities (helm, sails, rigging).

Notes

What to Bring: Swimwear and towel, if planning to swim.

Good to Know: Guests may be invited to assist the crew with raising the sails by pulling on the rigging ropes which requires a significant amount of effort. Participation is optional, and those who prefer can relax and enjoy the experience.
