Discover Caravaca, one of the holiest cities in the world for the Catholic Church, ranked after Santiago de Compostela, Santo Toribio de Liébana, Rome and Jerusalem. Your tour begins with a panoramic drive of about 1 hour and a half that will take you to Caravaca. You’ll stroll along the ancient streets of the city and walk uphill to Caravaca de la Cruz Castle which will seem to appear right in front of you as you walk. Muslim in origin, the castle was extended by the Knights Templar and the Order of Santiago. The religious dimension of Caravaca has evolved over the course of centuries, so it is not surprising that it comprises an unusual blend of all the cultures, military forces, artists and philosophers who have inhabited the city since the Middle Ages.

Visit the 16th and 17th century Sanctuary of Vera Cruz and the Museum of Sacred Art and History. Move on and see the Church of El Salvador and the Town Hall, which both architecturally illustrate an eclectic mix that is culturally represented by the Muslims and Christians Festival held every May. Then visit Museo de la Fiesta to learn about the internationally famous Wine Horse festivity before you enjoy a lunch of local fare. Afterward, you’ll ride back to Cartagena.
