Walk in the footsteps of ancient Romans as you join an archeologist on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Cartagena’s famed Roman Forum District — an open-air archaeological site that dates back to the 1st century B.C. Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by your knowledgeable guide and, later, an archaeologist who works on site. With your guide and the archaeologist leading the way, you’ll see the thermal bath complex, including a colonnaded courtyard and the atrium building, once used for religious banquets. Marvel at the well-preserved walls that stand over 13 feet tall and are still adorned with their original 2,000-year-old murals. As you walk along the multi-terraced area, you can also witness the exciting work that is taking place within the Roman Forum. After your visit, you will enjoy a walking tour around the city center of Cartagena, highlighting the most significant buildings in the city. Take in everything as you stroll along Main Street and see the modernist buildings, Plaza del Rey, the Cartagena Naval Base and the area’s other beautiful sites, such as San Francisco Square. When your tour is complete, you will return to the port.
