Coffee Baptism With a Touch of Gold

Colombia is coffee and coffee is Colombia! In this must see, unique and exclusive interactive experience for coffee lovers, the owners of Hacienda San Alberto bring their knowledge and passion to life as they share with you the ritual known as a catación or "baptism", which focuses on bean selection, roasting techniques, preparation styles and tastes for the bean that makes the planet tick. Each participant will get a chance to participate in the milling and selection processes of the beans followed by an activity called cupping where everyone will learn about the aromas and flavors of different types of coffee. Following this visit, enjoy a guided walk through the historic streets of magical Cartagena with a short stop at the Gold Museum (Closed Mondays). Here you’ll find a small selection of ornaments which were made from gold by the indigenous peoples of Colombia, before the Spanish conquest. End your day with a final opportunity to shop for handicrafts at las Bovedas artisans market before the return drive to the ship.
