Discover the rich, historical past of this vibrant European city during a guided walking tour of Cork. You will be driven by motor coach to heart of Cork City, where you’ll begin your tour. Today’s walking tour will take you along South Mall, one of the most active streets in the city. You'll make a stop on the Parnell Bridge to take in the panoramic views of the city — from the elegant, classical City Hall and the fluted columns of the Savings Bank to the modern lines of the College of Commerce and Morrison’s Island. You’ll then continue along the docks to the Parliament Bridge, where you’ll see the slender spire of the Holy Trinity Church rising up on the other side of the river. As you approach the South Gate Bridge, the three spires of St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral will also suddenly appear in the skyline. A visit around this early French Gothic structure will reveal highly ornamented mosaic work and rich carvings. Afterwards, stroll down Sharman-Crawford to the tranquil and quaint Clarkes Bridge — one of the most impressive places in the city — before moving on to the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Here, you’ll see the classical limestone facade of the Courthouse, located on a street full of classic red brick buildings. As you continue on, you’ll find yourself in a very cosmopolitan part of the city. At the end of the tour, there will be some free time to roam about on your own before heading back to the ship.
