Mayan Ruins: Explore the treasures left behind by the ancient Mayans amid a tropical jungle setting. Your guides will explain the sites, culture, and the theology the Mayan’s had with their natural surroundings and the cosmos. As you walk the grounds, you'll view detailed Mayan temples and you may even see some of Chacchoben's wildlife.
See an original red paint on the stucco walls of one of the pyramids and the temple where a mural was found showing the astronomical positions of the planet Venus. You will have time to climb the Gran Basamento taking you above tree level. Here, archaeologists found ceremonial offerings dating to around 1,000 B.C. Your guide will also explain about the wildlife and medicinal plants that are used by the modern-day descendants of the ancient Mayan people.
Requirements & Restrictions: This excursion is a moderately active excursion and entails a fair amount of walking over uneven surfaces and climbing. Closed-toe, comfortable shoes are required. For safety reasons, guests with walking difficulties or heart conditions may not participate on this excursion.

Good to Know: Children ages 5 years and under are free. There is a US $5.00 government-imposed fee for the use of video cameras on site. Travel time is approximately 1 hour each way.
