Horse Farm, Helsinki & Porvoo Old Town

An exciting day awaits you as you visit Porvoo Old Town, enjoy lunch with the friendly family at the Savijarvi Horse Farm in Sipoo and take in some of the main highlights of Helsinki. Departing from the harbor in your motorcoach, you will stop briefly at the Senate Square for a photo stop before continuing on along the scenic coastal road for approximately one hour to Porvoo, for a guided walking tour of this quaint village dating back to 1346. Walk the cobblestone streets of this old wooden town and stop for photos at the Old Bridge of Porvoo, which offers magnificent views of the town. Free time will allow you an opportunity to explore on your own or perhaps browse one of the many small handicraft shops. From Porvoo, continue to the Savijärvi Farm. This is a privately owned country home with the manor house dating from 1890. Receive a personal welcome by the family and an introduction to their farm, its animals, and their way of life. The family will then invite you into their home for a three-course meal, with fish as the main course. As well as being a private home, Savijärvi is also a Finnish horse-breeding farm and riding school. Here, you will have the opportunity to see some of these majestic horses, too. Say farewell to the family and the Finnish countryside by returning to Helsinki. Arriving back in the city, pass the New Opera House, Olympic Stadium, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum, the Parliament House, and the Contemporary Art Museum Kiasma, which opened in 1998 and was designed by American architect Steven Holl. Finally, stop at the Rock Church, carved into the bedrock, before making your last stop of the day at the Market Square for some free time on your own to browse the local artisan stalls, perhaps taste the seasonal berries or just take in the atmosphere before returning to the ship.
