Hawaiian Mission Houses was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965.

Iolani Palace Tour: A self-guided audio tour inside a true Hawaiian treasure – Iolani Palace – awaits. This is the only royal palace in the United States and was the official residence of the Hawaiian Kingdom's last two monarchs, King Kalakaua, who built the palace in 1882, and his sister and successor, Queen Lili'uokalani.

Sightseeing: Stop at Pali Lookout for pictures. Drive by Hawaii’s sacred Royal Mausoleum, Mauna ‘Ala. Walk by Kawaiha’o Church to King Kamehameha statue for pictures.

Good to Know: Iolani Palace is located on sacred land. Bathing suits and profane t-shirts are unsuitable for visitors to Iolani Palace. Showing excessive skin is inappropriate. Shirts and shoes are required. For the protection of the objects, large bags and umbrellas are prohibited inside Iolani Palace. Guests may take still photos inside the palace and gallery. Iolani Palace is closed on Sundays.
