
This eco-exploration includes a guided nature walk, local wildlife, a native totem carver, a historic sawmill and birds of prey at an exclusive reserve within the forested mountains of Herring Cove. This pristine environment is home to eagles, black bears, seals, a variety of birds and other wildlife attracted by the rich salmon runs in the marine estuary. Your Naturalist will guide you along a trail through the dense forest and an elevated boardwalk overlooking the grassy wetlands of Eagle Creek.
Learn about the local ecosystem, cultural history and unique species that call this sanctuary home. At the conclusion of your .75 mile trail you will tour the historic Fleenor Sawmill, observe a Master Native Totem Carver at work before exploring a garden of completed totem poles and visiting the Alaska Raptor Center's Ketchikan exhibit to see their amazing birds of prey up close.
