From the port, you will drive by coach to Sveti Stefan, located on an island connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Sveti Stefan was once a small town but is now privately owned and is a getaway village for the privileged few. The isthmus itself is quite lovely in that it is flanked by two pink sandy beaches. It is surrounded by ramparts dating from the 15th century, including a medieval fortification system complete with city gates, defense walls and towers. The ramparts of the citadel, once a powerful military fortress, are cleverly disguised as a stage festival theater in the summertime. Theatrical performances are also held in a smaller arena, between the churches, so that the various saints – St. Mary, St. Sava and St. Trojica – do their part to ensure that a fun time is had by all. With a sense of the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, continue to the Djuric Family farm in the village of Grbalj. Enjoy this beautiful location and the natural environment, meet the farm animals and pick some vegetables from the rich garden. This amazing estate includes the old family church, a beautiful garden, a smokehouse, a small wine cellar and a typical element of old Montenegrin architecture called a ‘guvno’. This is a stone circular building, typically next to a farmhouse, used for processing the corn or grains. In small villages, people meet, socialize and dance in guvnos. On the farm, you will have the opportunity to try delicious local specialties such as smoked ham, cheese and wine.
