Visit the marvelous world of the sloth at the Aviarios del Caribe Sloth Sanctuary, located less than an hour from Puerto Limon along scenic countryside roads. Meet members of the inspiring Arroyo family, founders of the only non-profit sloth sanctuary and research center in Costa Rica. At the rescue center, you’ll be introduced to the important work that is being done there. Then, you’ll be welcomed by true ambassadors of the sanctuary, including orphaned sloths. Included on your tour, you’ll board a canoe and be guided through the freshwater of the Estrella River, where you might have an excellent chance to see wild sloths, howler monkeys, birds and other wildlife while gliding along the bayous of the river delta. Your tour will conclude with a visit to the gift shop to remind you of this very special day.
