Connected with Central America's largest protected rain forest, the magical Veragua Rain Forest is located in the hills overlooking the Port of Limón.
On the one-hour drive up into the mountains, you will pass through several small charming towns such as Liverpool, Peje and Blanco, for a closer look at rural Costa Rican life. Once there, you will find yourself immersed in the breathtaking and vibrant rain forest with amazing panoramic views. Your ultimate nature experience will immediately begin as a professional naturalist guide walks with you through this amazing and educational experience. You will encounter the snakes of the Caribbean coast (they are behind glass) and stroll along easily accessible trails to the tram.
You will then enter an open-air gondola system that will take you through the primary rain forest past 300-year-old trees and down to the riverbank. Then walk the Trail of the Giants, so named for the huge trees lining the riverbank or op to hike on the Puma Waterfall trail. Ride the tram to the top station and visit the biological research station here.
Following a lunch a hot meal lunch, you will experience all the adventure of the Original Canopy Tour as you journey through the rain forest on a patented dual line system. This allows you to safely and silently glide through the different levels of the rain forest canopy. You will have uninterrupted views of the virgin rain forest which stretch as far as the eye can see as this private reserve neighbors the largest park in Central America. It straddles the border between Costa Rica and Panama. After the 11 traverses (the longest being almost two football fields in length and 150 feet in the air), you will return to the forest floor where you can find refreshments and souvenirs to remind you of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
