Details

The Little Penguin, at only 33 centimetres high, is the smallest penguin species in the world, and the only one that breeds on the Australian mainland. The flightless birds are excellent swimmers. Each evening at dusk they return to shore, waddling up the beach to their burrows amongst the sand dunes. You’ll find informative displays at the visitors centre, then follow the path that leads to Summerland Beach to see the penguins from the tiered viewing stand as they march up the floodlit beach.
