Details

Depart by motorcoach from the port and follow the road inland to the village of Ano Mera. Here, visit the Panagia Tourliani Monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The Monastery was originally built in 1542 by monks from the nearby Island of Paros. From an architectural point of view the structure is impressive with its spare, linear lines, whitewashed exterior and colored dome which makes it typical of the Greek Island style. Observe the marble belltower and the water spigot in the courtyard which are elaborately decorated with carvings, typical examples of traditional marble sculpture. The monastery’s collection includes many old tools and utensils, important religious relics, priests’ robes furnishings, post-Byzantine icons, and various other offerings. Then in the village square, enjoy a welcome refreshment and snack before continuing towards the island’s south eastern coast to the beach of Kalafatis. Mykonos is famous world-wide for its beaches and Kalafati beach is a prime example. A short stop offers the opportunity to photograph the beautiful views. Mykonos buzzes with activity and your guide will walk you through some of the most famous landmarks such as the windmills and Little Venice, with its plethora of cafés and restaurants. The town is filled with exclusive boutiques and stores, for that all-important souvenir or special gift. At the end of the guided tour, feel free to stay in town and return to Tourlos Port with the shuttle at your own expense. Order of the site visits may vary due to operational reasons.
