What to Bring: Comfortable flat soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat, insect repellent, plenty of sunscreen and bottled water.
Good to Know: Following the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai volcanic eruption and tsunami in January 2022, all umu demonstrations and shows have been relocated from the beach and cave area to the top ledge of Oholei Beach. The entrance to Oholei beach has stairways of 60 steps which includes 3 rest platforms. Basic local buses are used for transportation, and they are not equipped with air-conditioning or PA systems. Restroom facilities may be rustic.
