Details

In Stockholm's Old Town (Gamla Stan), stroll along the narrow, twisting alleys and cobblestone streets to see some of the city's finest sights. Savor the Bohemian atmosphere among houses that date from the 16th to the 19th centuries – complete with Baroque doorways and regal Coats of Arms. In the Stortorget (Great Square) in the hub of the Old Town, look for the old Stock Exchange, which now houses the Nobel Museum and the Swedish Academy. Enjoy a stroll in the atmosphere of Gamla Stan, which is indeed a living historical monument. At the Hotel C Stockholm, in the heart of the city, you'll find the year-round Ice Bar. Before entering, put on a warm fur poncho and mittens. Inside, the temperature is a cool 23°F, and the entire interior (including the drinking glasses) is made of pure ice from the Torne River. A vodka drink in an ice glass will be served. Next, you will head to Djurgarden to visit the Vasa Museum. On display here is the magnificent 17th-century Swedish warship Vasa – then the pride of the Swedish Navy. Unfortunately, she sank just a few minutes into her maiden voyage in 1628. Vasa was salvaged in 1961, with more than 12,000 objects on board. Say goodbye to your guide and return unescorted to Nynashamn.
