Pass through the western part of Ponta Delgada via the coastal roads before arriving at Feteiras where the route ascends to Sete Cidades. You’ll visit the extinct crater of Sete Cidades, which is approximately 1,900 ft. above sea level, for some fantastic photo opportunities. From the edge of the crater, eight miles in circumference, there is a magnificent view of the two lakes at the bottom. One is deep blue, reflecting the sky, while the other is bright green, due to the beautiful setting of the lush crater walls that are rich with vegetation. Descend to the center of the village. On the shores of the Blue Lake is the village of Sete Cidades (Seven Cities), which is surrounded by the dark forest covered walls of the Caldeira. Enjoy your free time in this scenic beauty and in one of the oldest villages of the Azores. On the journey back to the ship, you will pass by Pico do Cavrao island and are able to view both the north and south coasts of the island.
Tour involves walking over cobblestone and flat surfaces. For safety reasons, guests with walking difficulties may not participate on this excursion.
