Details

Spend the day exploring the highlands of Northern Europe and the traditional Icelandic way of life at the Wilderness Center of Iceland. Settle in for a lovely ride through the idyllic countryside and stop at Lagarfljot, Iceland's third-largest lake. Here, your guide will entertain you with stories of the sea monster believed to lurk within the lake's depths, 300 ft. below sea level. Continue on to the Wilderness Center of Iceland, where you'll cross an old wooden bridge to this living museum and experience life on the highlands. You'll be escorted by locals in traditional garb who will share local lore, authentic music and their cuisine. At the old turf smokehouse, taste the mountain lamb right from the smoke hut, then enter a farmhouse and gather within the old-style kitchen to watch a cooking demonstration as a meal of authentic delicacies is served with local rhubarb wine.

What’s Included:

  • Lunch: soup of the day and homemade bread, along with tastings of lamb.
