Grizzly Coast 4x4 Adventure

Your off-highway vehicle adventure begins in Sitka, where your van driver will greet you at the tender pier. You’ll head to a jetty where an aluminum landing craft is tied up. Hop aboard and you’re off for a high-speed boat ride to Kruzof Island.

Once ashore, and after a quick safety orientation and operating instructions, you’ll begin your Yamaha Rhino OHV ride, and you’ll enjoy exploring wildflower meadows, and beautiful scenery while searching for wildlife such as Alaska brown bear and Sitka black-tail deer. The guide leads you along an OHV trail though muskeg and forest on the way to Grizzly Meadow Estuary.

Stop along the way for interpretive sessions and photo opportunities. When you arrive at the estuary you can park your OHV and take a short walk to enjoy the scenery, take photos and watch for wildlife. After a snack, it’s time to ride back to the coast and take the boat back to Sitka.

Note: This tour operates in the Tongass National Forest under a Special Use Permit issued by the US Forest Service. Minimum age is 9 years; minimum age to drive is 18 years with a valid driver's license. Participants should be in good physical condition. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women or guests with back or neck problems due to bumpy terrain. You may get wet and muddy.
