Glow Worm Kayaking: Paddle onto Lake Rotoiti and view beautiful expansive scenery, geothermal vents, and pass classic Kiwi baches (holiday homes) as well as abundant birdlife towards a small glow worm grotto. Kayak into a little-known cave with a hidden entrance, about 20 meters deep to view the glow worms.
Thermal Hot Pools: Exit and paddle across to the Manupirua thermal hot pools, only accessible by water. Enjoy a well-earned break and a 30-minute soak in the hot waters while taking in the breathtaking landscape of Rotoiti. Highly trained knowledgeable guides will tell you about the area, local Maori history and legends, and glow worms.
What’s Included:
Accessibility: This tour is not accessible and therefore is unable to accommodate guests who are wheelchair users, or those who rely on scooters, canes, rollators, or other assistive devices. No previous kayaking experience is necessary; however, participants should have a good level of fitness and mobility. The paddle lasts approximately 2-hours and may involve breezy conditions that require sustained physical effort.
Requirements & Restrictions: Minimum age to participate in tour – 8 years.
What to Bring: Comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions (shorts are recommended), a hat, jacket, biodegradable sunscreen, bottled water, a swimwear and towel, and a change of clothing for after kayaking.
Good to Know: Travel between Tauranga to Lake Rotoiti is approx. One hour each way.
