Golden Heritage: Waihi has been famous for gold since 1878 with a fascinating and unique story. Learn about some intriguing characters and events that have shaped the social and industrial landscapes over the past 140 years. Visit Waihi’s iconic Cornish Pumphouse and take an "inside the fence" tour of the massive Martha Gold Mine. Normally off-limits to the public, exclusive access inside the mine security fence showcases modern-day gold mining.

Railway tour: Next, travel back in time and enjoy a ride on the Goldfields Heritage Railway, an experience rich in history, including historic gold mining which shaped much of this part of the Southern Coromandel.

Gold Discovery Center: Discover a modern interactive facility where the Waihi story unfolds. Push hard against an air-leg drill that will shake your bones, just like a real drill.
