Board the chartered train from Warnemünde to Berlin, that lasts approximately 2.5-3 hours, where your escort will provide general information and a refreshment. In Berlin, board your touring coach welcomed by your Berlin tour guide. First is the Bebelplatz, a square that was originally meant as a center for intellectual and artistic endeavor. Continue to Track 17 Memorial at Grunewald Train Station, which was one of the three stations where a total of 55,000 Berlin Jews were deported during the Nazi Regime. One of the platforms is lined with 183 steel plates; each plate commemorating the Jews who left this station on deportation trains. Next up will be the Holocaust Memorial, officially named the ‘Monument to the Murdered Jews’ in Europe. Opened in 2005, 60 years after the end of World War II, the U.S. architect Peter Eisenman's controversial design was chosen as a fitting tribute to those that died before and during World War II. Another touching memorial is the Neue Wache or New Guardhouse to remember the victims of war and tyranny. Finally, you will also see other major highlights of this metropolis, including Brandenburg Gate, Check Point Charlie, Berlin Dome, Unter den Linden, Reichstag, Victory Column, Strasse des 17. Juni and Alexanderplatz. Enjoy a typical, pub-style German lunch (included) in a local Berlin restaurant before your train ride back.
