Municipality of Loiza: Get ready for an exciting day full of insights into the history of the island’s culture and legacy. Enjoy a spectacular scenic drive, approximately 40 minutes long to visit Loiza, a small colorful town on the northeastern coast of Puerto Rico. Discover Puerto Rico’s unique mixture of cultures that has been influenced by the Taino Indians, the Spanish and the African slaves.

Cueva Maria de la Cruz: We will visit a small but impressive cave, Cueva Maria de la Cruz, an archeological site where evidence of pre-Columbian cultures was discovered in 1948. Inside were the belongings of some of the 1rst inhabitants of the island.

Bees Please: The cave is a bee’s sanctuary, unique of its kind in the Caribbean. Learn about the key role bees play in the recuperation after Hurricane Irma and Maria affected the island and how we can help to keep the bees safe. Also, be a witness of the development of the production of honey for the island.

Capital of Traditions: Loíza is known for its "bomba" music and Loíza’s talented dancers and artisans who will share an exciting community program with you, where families come together, and participate in traditional music and dancing.

Bomba: Enjoy a fun workshop that explains about Bomba, full of percussion and drums which will get your body moving in a second! You will also learn the meanings of the women’s head turban and have the chance to purchase one to take back home as a souvenir. Have fun in Puerto Rico by acquiring a taste of the local cuisine and celebrating the Afro-Latino traditions and sounds.

Art Gallery: Visit the quaint local art gallery which includes expositions of over 18 local artists, explaining the history of the local culture and important art representations such as the Vegigante, a folkloric character distinctive to Puerto Rican festival celebrations.

Piñones: After enjoying the park area of the cave and before returning to San Juan, we will arrive to the community of Piñones. This is the coastal part of the town of Loíza, composed of dozens of kiosks selling fritters, and other pre-colonial recipes.

Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch of authentic Puerto Rican rice and beans, choice of pork or chicken, water and/or soda. A perfect way to end your cultural experience is by treating you to lunch near the beach and sampling the Puerto Rican culinary flavors.
